Where Do I File A New Hampshire Employment Law Claim?

Submitted by rachel on

New Hampshire workers who have been the victims of labor law violations can file a complaint against any employer. If you are a New Hampshire worker who has experienced wrongful termination, wage theft, discrimination, or other employment law violations here are the agencies that you can file a New Hampshire employment law claim with.

New Hampshire Department of Labor

If you were the victim of wage theft, or if your employer hasn’t paid you in accordance with the law, or if you have experienced any type of wage or hours employment rights violation by an employer you can file a complaint with the New Hampshire Department of Labor

To file a complaint you can fill out an online complaint form through the Department of Labor’s website.  Or, you can download a blank copy of the complaint form, fill it out, and mail it in. You can also call the New Hampshire Department of Labor and start a complaint over the phone.

When you start your complaint make sure that you have supporting documents like copies of your pay stubs, your scheduled hours, and any other documents that support your claim.

New Hampshire Commission For Human Rights

New Hampshire workers that need to file a complaint against an employer for discrimination, retaliation, wrongful termination, sexual harassment, or any other workplace rights violations will have to file a complaint with the New Hampshire Commission For Human Rights. To start a complaint against an employer in New Hampshire you can go to the NHCHR’s website.

To file a claim against an employer for any type of employment rights violation you will need to fill out a claim questionnaire and submit it. You can fill out the initial questionnaire on the NHCHR website or you can download a copy of the form, print it, fill it out, and mail it in.  If you need help understanding the form or filling it out you can contact the NHCHR and they will tell you where to go to get the help that you need.

Equal Employment Opportunity Commission

Any worker whose Federal workplace rights have been violated can also file a complaint with the Federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Because the EEOC is a Federal agency they can investigate complaints against employers in every state. The EEOC investigates claims of discrimination, retaliation, wrongful termination, harassment, and any violation of Federal employment law.

You can start a complaint online through the EEOC’s website, or file a complaint in person at an EEOC office. New Hampshire doesn’t have an EEOC office, but if you want to file your complaint in person you can make an appointment at any Massachusetts EEOC office and file your complaint there.
